I’m a bead maker now!

Happy Wednesday everyone! This week I’ve got something super exciting to share with you! My husband got me the supplies I needed to learn how to make glass lampwork beads!! I’ve only made 3 so far, but they are so fun! I love them. I have no idea what I am going to do with them just yet, but aren’t they beautiful? The first two beads my husband made. He really enjoyed himself! 🙂

This one is blue, with a green and white swirl in it, I really love this one, it maybe my favorite of them all, and I can’t even take credit for it! hehe

This orange and blue bead is super cute! My husband is really good at making beads.

These next 3 I made. Over all I am pretty happy about how they turned out. 🙂 I can’t wait to make make some more!

I think this black and white one is my favorite of the one I’ve made. 🙂

I am searching the internet like crazy trying to find more tips on how to shape the beads better. After I find a few sites, I plan to blog about what I’ve found to be the most helpful.

And went hiking, super fun!

It was the best weekend I’ve had in a while, and I got to spend it with some of my family! Which made it even better!
I just got some new items in the mail to make jewelry out of, and I can’t wait to use them! Its like Christmas for me whenever I get a package in the mail. 🙂 So I wanted to share with you the new items I’ve got to make new pieces with.

I really love these crosses, they are so different looking.

As you can tell by my business cards, I love owls, so when I saw theses I knew I just had to have them! They are so cute, I will defiantly be keeping a set of them for myself!

These pieces are going to be used on a new type of bracelet I am working on. I can’t wait to get started on them, and get them posted. 🙂IMG_0020

I have no idea what I will do with these beads, but they called out to me. They are this really pretty blueish green color. IMG_0021

I am in love with using these chip beads in my tree pendants! It makes them look amazing!  IMG_0001

Thanks to a friend of mine who also makes beaded jewelry had her projects in Altoids containers, so that it kept everything together. And so I started collecting a few, and they work so much better then the big plastic pencil case I was using! My mother in law found the Penguin tin for me, and well penguins are an inside joke for our family. hehe so I love it most of all!

Sorry for the short blog post, life has been so busy lately I’ve barely had time to sit down.

Busy busy

I have been so busy for the past two weeks, I’ve been unable to publish my blog post. But as soon as things start to slow down I end up sick again. Blah I am so ready for summertime. But anyways on to the real reason your here. 🙂

So I  have been cleaning my craft room like crazy lately (and this time it actually looks like I’ve done something) trying to set the room up into something that works for me. I have been having trouble coming up with ideas on how to organize everything and where to put it so that I can quickly and easily get to it. I hate not being able to find things when I need them. Which would make you think I would be organized, but ohhhhh how wrong you are. I am super messy, and so unorganized its not even funny. You can ask anyone this, they will wholeheartedly agree. hehe

I’ve been trying to come up with something that I can store all my beads in as well as a place to store the tackle box I got to carry things back and forth to a show. (hehe Don’t judge me, the tackle box was $20 cheaper then the same thing that was labeled “jewelry storage”) Well my husband came up with a great idea, an so far it is working out perfectly! He suggested that I get one of those great big tool boxes on wheels. After I thought about it, that’s what I did! I still don’t have it organized, but as you can see from the pictures below it is working out great. And the best part, for all 3 pieces, 8 drawers in total cost me $140 before taxes! A big thank you to Lowes, and Taskforce for having and making just what I wanted and needed. ♥

This drawer makes me the most excited, being able to see all of my seed beads, and have them sorted into sizes! LOVE IT! Now I just need to get more tubes and get rid of the bags of beads I have, and I’ll be all set!
Best part is I don’t have to carry all of them with me when I go to a show, I can just pick what colors I’d like to bring and off I go! IMG_2497

All of my tools fit nicely up in the top part of the tool box, no more randomly leaving them laying on my desk.  (For now anyways)
IMG_2499

IMG_2492

As you can see it is still a little messy, but its well on its way to being organized. And now even with it being messy like that I know where all of my beads are. Whenever I buy something new I place it in the very bottom draw before organizing them into the proper draw. Now if only I can get the rest of my craft room to function as well I’d be happy.

But well enough of my ramblings about a toolbox. I’ll post the links so you can check out the toolboxes out for yourself if you’d like.
I can’t believe I just made a whole blog about a toolbox, but what can I say. I really really love it!
How do you get organized?

This is what I’ve been working on the past two weeks. 🙂 All of these items will be up for sale on my Facebook page within the next day or two. 🙂

I really love this color green. It is very vibrant. This set is very lightweight, and very comfortable.

I am in a lightweight earring kick. I love the fact that when I am wearing my earrings I can’t feel them. These two new pairs are perfect.

This is the start of a new bracelet, I really can’t wait to see what it looks like when its finished. It’s seems to be very light, and comfortable. Hopefully it wont be to much longer until its finished.

Earring tutorial

I am so excited to share with you my first earring tutorial, I am going to make this a simple tutorial.

Ready? 🙂 It will be easy I promise!

What you’ll need…

IMG_2345

IMG_2347

The pliers I got from Walmart, they are not the best quality but they work just fine for me.  I have gone through several pairs of wire cutters but they aren’t terribly expensive. The beads, head pins, and earring hooks have come from either Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s or Ben Franklins.

Step 1) Take your head pin and one bead and slide it down to the bottom of the head pin. Please make sure your bead is not going to fall off. If it does, you will need to chose a bead with a smaller hole.

IMG_2350

Step 2) Take your flat nosed pliers, and get them close to your bead, then bend the headpin at a 90 degree angle.  IMG_2351

Step 3) Take your wire cutters, and measure out around 1/4 to a 1/2 down from your 90 degree bend, then cut off the excess wire. (don’t worry if you have a little more or a little less, just make sure you leave the same amount on the other earring) IMG_2362

Step 4) Take your round nosed pliers, and start at the end of the wire you just cut and make a loop.  IMG_2354

It should look like this after you are finished.

IMG_2355IMG_2356

Step 5) Pick up your round nosed pliers, and your flat nosed pliers and place then on either side of the loop you just created. Take the pliers that are on the cut side of the loop, and push them away from you, this should have caused the wire loop to open. Do NOT pull the loop opened.

 IMG_2359

Step 6) Slide on your earring hook, and close the loop you created. Make sure there is not a gap, you don’t want your new earrings to fall apart on you. 🙂 Be sure you check the loop on the earring hook as well for gaps, sometimes they are not closed all the way. IMG_2361

Step 7) Repeat steps 1-6 for the other earring.

IMG_2363

Step 8) Enjoy your new earrings! And also if you want to take a pretty picture of them remember to remove the pliers from behind them. Whoops! haha

I hope this helps you to create your own earrings!

I of course did not come up with this idea, this is just my steps that I use when making my earrings.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I’d love to hear from you! Better yet, I’d love to see the earrings you create!

I hope this is just the first of many tutorials that I can share with you. What would you like to see in the future?

I hope everyone was safe from the storms that came through today. My house is still standing, I just can kayak in my neighbors front yard again, to bad its dark out how. haha

Bracelets, bracelets, bracelets

I hope you are having a good week so far! I would be if it weren’t for the cold weather and snow lingering around. On Thursday last week, we got 7-8 inches of snow in 4 hours it was insane. I was not happy, but I was out numbered in my house hold as you can see, my husband and dog loved it.

 IMG_2308 IMG_2303

I am so ready for warm weather so I can work on my jewelry out  on my gazebo. Its the  perfect place to get inspiration when I am stuck. sigh hopefully I can use it soon. But never mind about that, lets get onto the real reason you’re reading this blog. Jewelry! Or more specifically bracelets!

Last week I posted a work in progress, it was a bracelet using tila beads and seed beads. I love it before I finished it, but now that its done I love it even more!

IMG_2319IMG_2321 IMG_2323IMG_2327 IMG_2328

Like I said last week, this was my first time using tila beads, but it will NOT be the last! I love them! If I didn’t already have a million other ideas going on in my head right now, I’d be making another one of these bracelets in a different color.  The good thing about being crafty is that you think of new ideas all then time, the bad thing about being crafty is if you are working on another project and you have an idea it is extremely hard not to stop one project and start another, at least it is for me.

Well I said last week you might get an early post this week, but I didn’t have time to finish it. So I am giving you two posts today! Stay tuned for my next blog update about custom orders! 🙂

New bracelet

So raise your hand if you can swim in your front yard! haha It has rained here for 2 or 3 days straight it is seriously insane.Last night our rain gauge showed we have gotten over 5 inches of rain already, it stopped for a few hours but its right back at it now! Good thing my husband and I own kayaks!

(Is it summer yet? I am dying to go back to the lake and kayak!)

It may not be perfect weather for being outside, but it is perfect weather to stay in side with some hot chocolate and work on jewelry. Which is just what I’ve been doing! 🙂

Sadly where I make my jewelry does still look like a bomb went off so I will share with you my new bracelet instead!
I love it! It is based off a picture I found.

(Not my photo, it was found here)

I loved it. So I thought I’d try and make my own. I did find a tutorial, but I didn’t like it. So I came up with my own. Here is what mine looks like so far.

IMG_2292 IMG_2295 IMG_2298 IMG_2299

I really love how it looks. I hope to get it finished tonight. If I do maybe there will be another blog update before Wednesday! 🙂 Something to make up for posting this so late.

I just posted these earrings. They are light weight and absolutely beautiful when worn. I got many compliments when I worn mine out the other day!

IMG_2252 IMG_2257

Well I am off to try and finish that bracelet. Have a good evening everyone and stay dry!

I’d love to hear from you, and questions or comments you have are more then welcomed!
