Earring tutorial

I am so excited to share with you my first earring tutorial, I am going to make this a simple tutorial.

Ready? ūüôā It will be easy I promise!

What you’ll need…

The pliers I got from Walmart, they are not the best¬†quality¬†but they work just fine for me. ¬†I have gone through several pairs of wire cutters but they aren’t terribly expensive. The beads, head pins, and earring hooks have come from either Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s or Ben Franklins.

Step 1) Take your head pin and one bead and slide it down to the bottom of the head pin. Please make sure your bead is not going to fall off. If it does, you will need to chose a bead with a smaller hole.

IMG_2350

Step 2) Take your flat nosed pliers, and get them close to your bead, then bend the headpin at a 90 degree angle.  IMG_2351

Step 3) Take your wire cutters, and measure out around 1/4 to a 1/2 down from your 90 degree bend, then cut off the excess wire. (don’t worry if you have a little more or a little less, just make sure you leave the same amount on the other earring)¬†IMG_2362

Step 4) Take your round nosed pliers, and start at the end of the wire you just cut and make a loop.  IMG_2354

It should look like this after you are finished.

IMG_2355IMG_2356

Step 5) Pick up your round nosed pliers, and your flat nosed pliers and place then on either side of the loop you just created. Take the pliers that are on the cut side of the loop, and push them away from you, this should have caused the wire loop to open. Do NOT pull the loop opened.

 IMG_2359

Step 6) Slide on your earring hook, and close the loop you created. Make sure there is not a gap, you don’t want your new earrings to fall apart on you. ūüôā Be sure you check the loop on the earring hook as well for gaps, sometimes they are not closed all the way.¬†IMG_2361

Step 7) Repeat steps 1-6 for the other earring.

IMG_2363

Step 8) Enjoy your new earrings! And also if you want to take a pretty picture of them remember to remove the pliers from behind them. Whoops! haha

I hope this helps you to create your own earrings!

I of course did not come up with this idea, this is just my steps that I use when making my earrings.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I’d love to hear from you! Better yet, I’d love to see the earrings you create!

I hope this is just the first of many tutorials that I can share with you. What would you like to see in the future?

I hope everyone was safe from the storms that came through today. My house is still standing, I just can kayak in my neighbors front yard again, to bad its dark out how. haha

Bracelets, bracelets, bracelets

I hope you are having a good week so far! I would be if it weren’t for the cold weather and snow lingering around. On Thursday last week, we got 7-8 inches of snow in 4 hours it was insane. I was not happy, but I was out numbered in my house hold as you can see, my husband and dog loved it.

 IMG_2308 IMG_2303

I am so ready for warm weather so I can work on my¬†jewelry¬†out ¬†on my gazebo. Its the ¬†perfect place to get¬†inspiration¬†when I am stuck. sigh hopefully I can use it soon. But never mind about that, lets get onto the real reason you’re reading this blog. Jewelry! Or more specifically bracelets!

Last week I posted a work in progress, it was a bracelet using tila beads and seed beads. I love it before I finished it, but now that its done I love it even more!

IMG_2319IMG_2321 IMG_2323IMG_2327 IMG_2328

Like I said last week, this was my first time using tila beads, but it will NOT be the last! I love them! If I didn’t already have a million other ideas going on in my head right now, I’d be making another one of these bracelets in a different color. ¬†The good thing about being crafty is that you think of new ideas all then time, the bad thing about being crafty is if you are working on another project and you have an idea it is extremely hard not to stop one project and start another, at least it is for me.

Well I said last week you might get an early post this week, but I didn’t have time to finish it. So I am giving you two posts today! Stay tuned for my next blog update about custom orders! ūüôā

New bracelet

So raise your hand if you can swim in your front yard! haha It has rained here for 2 or 3 days straight it is seriously insane.Last night our rain gauge showed we have gotten over 5 inches of rain already, it stopped for a few hours but its right back at it now! Good thing my husband and I own kayaks!

(Is it summer yet? I am dying to go back to the lake and kayak!)

It may not be perfect weather for being outside, but it is perfect weather to stay in side with some hot chocolate and work on jewelry. Which is just what I’ve been doing! ūüôā

Sadly where I make my jewelry does still look like a bomb went off so I will share with you my new bracelet instead!
I love it! It is based off a picture I found.

I loved it. So I thought I’d try and make my own. I did find a tutorial, but I didn’t like it. So I came up with my own. Here is what mine looks like so far.

IMG_2292 IMG_2295 IMG_2298 IMG_2299

I really love how it looks. I hope to get it finished tonight. If I do maybe there will be another blog update before Wednesday! ūüôā Something to make up for posting this so late.

I just posted these earrings. They are light weight and absolutely beautiful when worn. I got many compliments when I worn mine out the other day!

Well I am off to try and finish that bracelet. Have a good evening everyone and stay dry!

I’d love to hear from you, and questions or comments you have are more then welcomed!

Necklaces ‚ô•

Sadly I don’t have any new items to post for you guys this week. I really need to get some projects finished, and get some pictures taken, but in the time being here is a posts dedicated to necklaces! Enjoy!

Have you ever seen a beautiful necklace online, but wasn’t sure where it would lay? Here is a handy guide to help out!

(Not my image, found using Google images)

I love necklaces, I usually always have a necklace on. ¬†For some reason even though I love necklaces, I have hard time coming up with ideas for them. But one of my goals this year is to come up with some new ideas. ¬†While I think up some new ideas, here is a look at some of the necklaces I’ve made in the past. Enjoy!

IMG_1579
I love this necklace, it was made with beautiful glass beads that were crochet with wire. This picture really doesn’t show how beautiful the colors really were.

IMG_1573
This was another of my favorites. This necklace is a one of a kind piece, I came up with the idea and wrapped the wire myself. It was surprisingly lightweight and very comfortable when worn.

IMG_1569 IMG_1562
These nest pendant necklaces turned out very cute. And are also surprisingly light weight.

IMG_1555 IMG_1547

I got addicted for a while to making these crochet wire necklaces. I loved how unique they look, even using the same beads no two every looked the same. The best part about these necklaces are that due to the fact that they are made with wire you are able to move the piece around and get it to a point were it feels like it was made for you.

IMG_0622 IMG_0549

The tree pendant on the left was the first one I made. I instantly fell in love with it. The two on the right were custom orders that I love. I think the matching colored ribbon is really want makes them pop.

Next week I hope to share with where the creating happens. That is if it doesn’t look like a bomb went off! Check back next Wednesday to see!

Have a great day everyone

Earring love

Did you have a good New Years? I did, just a quiet evening at home. It was really nice. Well enough of that, now on to the jewelry.

I love earrings, I also love-making earrings. On my jewelry page¬†¬†I tend to have lots of earrings a just a few bracelets, and necklaces. (something I am working hard to change, New Years resolution maybe?) But here are some of my absolute favorites that I’ve made over the years.

IMG_0375IMG_1635551222_390787470959121_919538038_n IMG_0244IMG_1695 IMG_1659 IMG_1642 IMG_162960735_431193230251878_657408305_n

If you haven’t checked my Facebook page yet, you really should. There is a great sale going on right now! (January 2nd to January 9th 2013)

Bracelet in progress ‚ô•

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! I did, it was great to spend time with family. ūüôā

I love the color purple. It is one of my favorite colors. So it only makes since that I make purple jewelry. hehe Funny thing is, hardly any jewelry I make is purple, I guess I am trying to keep myself from wanting to keep it. ūüėõ But anyways on to the jewelry!

I have recently become¬†obsessed¬†with netting, I just love it. I’ve made 3 other bracelets like this one. But this one maybe my favorite!

IMG_2154 IMG_2158

It is made with 11/0 seed beads, the purple color is actually a¬†beautiful¬†light purple with a rainbow finish. I really love how the light¬†reflects¬†off of it and brings out all the ¬†colors. I’ve still got away to go with it, but I really love how its coming along!

Why Jewelry?

For as long as I can remember I have always loved doing crafts. ¬†I’ve tried just about everything over the years Crocheting, Knitting, Sewing (Which I am HORRIBLE at), painting (no good there either) but finally one day I was wandering around a store and found their bead section and thought eh, why not lets see what happens… It’s been almost two years now, and I am addicted! I love everything about making jewelry, I love working with wire, bead¬†stitching, bead weaving, stringing… Everything. There is truly no limit on what you can make.

Everyday I find something new that I want to learn how to make. It’s amazing! And I am so thankful for all the people that I’ve met during the short time I’ve been doing this. I’ve met some amazing people who also make jewelry and I am blessed that they have been willing to help me out so much.

Here are some examples of my work. Some of these items have already sold, but please check out my facebook to see what I currently have for sale.
