A very sweet customer of mine loves to keep me on my toes with fun new orders. This is the latest order I did for her.

I had my husband hollow out the wooden wheel for the center, then we both sanded it, we used two coats of stain then roughed it up to give it this finish. I then wire wrapped the pendant with copper wire, and used beautiful green glass stones for the center. I really love how this came out.

I’m back!

I’m back!
I’m so glad to be back! For the last month or so I’ve been working hard getting posts ready and working on new jewelry, as well as custom orders. I’ve also got some really great feedback about what types of things you’d like to see.

I’m really excited about the new posts I’ve been working on, I’ve got recipes, book reviews, I talk about TV shows, and of course my jewelry. And this is just what I’ve got ready to go right now; I’m already planning some more tutorials. At some point I’d love to post video updates/tutorials also, as soon as I figure out how, and how to edit them.

I’m having fun learning new techniques right now with my jewelry, I don’t have a lot of finished projects to show, but I’ve got several works in progress to share with you in the coming weeks.

And as always I’m working on custom orders, I truthfully think this is my favorite part. Taking someone’s idea and bringing it to life. I never get tired of how excited people get when they see the end result. I just finished this custom order bracelet for a friend of mine. I love them!

I’m working on a custom order for a lady’s mother. This a copy of one of my favorite bracelets. It lies beautifully on your wrist while being worn.

Thank to everyone who has stuck with me the past little bit! I’m back and ready to update at least twice a week. I’d love to hear more ideas from you so please message me or leave me a comment below. I look forward to hearing from you!

Why I’ve been gone.

Hey everyone if your still out there,

I am really sorry about being gone for quite sometime, life has been very busy and due to it being so busy I haven’t been working on my jewelry as much, and seeing as this is a blog about my jewelry I haven’t had anything to post about. I haven’t made anything new it quite some time also. 😦

That being said, I am going to rework this blog into a blog about whatever I am currently working, whether it be cooking, jewelry, cleaning, what’s going on with my work, or the new book I am reading. Basically anything and everything that I do daily. I really think this is going to be a great change!

I am going to be a way a bit longer, I want to get everything in order and take the time to change the blog around to better reflect the changes I plan to make. I do hope that you will stick with me, I know that I am going to have a blast sharing more of the things I do. I do far more then just make jewelry, cooking is one of my biggest passions and so I foresee TONS of recipes, and my reactions to the good and the bad things that I cook! 🙂

So please join me on this ride and if you would send me what you would like to see in the future, I’d really love the feed back!

I hope you have a great day, I am going to get to work now on the changes!

Custom Order

This is the most fun part of my job is when someone comes to me with a special custom order. This custom order actually was a duplicate of a custom order that I created for a web tv show, called The Strangers. If you haven’t seen this show yet, you really should, its amazing! I love this design so much. I think out of all of the trees I’ve made, theses are my favorite. 164289_513254712045729_1069717188_n 247122_513253665379167_432413541_n 947031_513254465379087_1902960453_n

I hope to get a few more of theses made up and get them on my facebook page soon!

Busy busy

I have been so busy for the past two weeks, I’ve been unable to publish my blog post. But as soon as things start to slow down I end up sick again. Blah I am so ready for summertime. But anyways on to the real reason your here. 🙂

So I  have been cleaning my craft room like crazy lately (and this time it actually looks like I’ve done something) trying to set the room up into something that works for me. I have been having trouble coming up with ideas on how to organize everything and where to put it so that I can quickly and easily get to it. I hate not being able to find things when I need them. Which would make you think I would be organized, but ohhhhh how wrong you are. I am super messy, and so unorganized its not even funny. You can ask anyone this, they will wholeheartedly agree. hehe

I’ve been trying to come up with something that I can store all my beads in as well as a place to store the tackle box I got to carry things back and forth to a show. (hehe Don’t judge me, the tackle box was $20 cheaper then the same thing that was labeled “jewelry storage”) Well my husband came up with a great idea, an so far it is working out perfectly! He suggested that I get one of those great big tool boxes on wheels. After I thought about it, that’s what I did! I still don’t have it organized, but as you can see from the pictures below it is working out great. And the best part, for all 3 pieces, 8 drawers in total cost me $140 before taxes! A big thank you to Lowes, and Taskforce for having and making just what I wanted and needed. ♥

This drawer makes me the most excited, being able to see all of my seed beads, and have them sorted into sizes! LOVE IT! Now I just need to get more tubes and get rid of the bags of beads I have, and I’ll be all set!
Best part is I don’t have to carry all of them with me when I go to a show, I can just pick what colors I’d like to bring and off I go! IMG_2497

All of my tools fit nicely up in the top part of the tool box, no more randomly leaving them laying on my desk.  (For now anyways)
IMG_2499

IMG_2492

As you can see it is still a little messy, but its well on its way to being organized. And now even with it being messy like that I know where all of my beads are. Whenever I buy something new I place it in the very bottom draw before organizing them into the proper draw. Now if only I can get the rest of my craft room to function as well I’d be happy.

But well enough of my ramblings about a toolbox. I’ll post the links so you can check out the toolboxes out for yourself if you’d like.
I can’t believe I just made a whole blog about a toolbox, but what can I say. I really really love it!
How do you get organized?

This is what I’ve been working on the past two weeks. 🙂 All of these items will be up for sale on my Facebook page within the next day or two. 🙂

I am in a lightweight earring kick. I love the fact that when I am wearing my earrings I can’t feel them. These two new pairs are perfect.

This is the start of a new bracelet, I really can’t wait to see what it looks like when its finished. It’s seems to be very light, and comfortable. Hopefully it wont be to much longer until its finished.

Bracelet tutorial part 1

Earlier this week I promised I’d do a bracelet tutorial, its a little late in the day, but never the less here it is! 🙂

This tutorial will be broken up in to two parts, due to the fact it takes so long to finish the bracelet. You’ll see why it takes a while soon. But don’t worry it is still an easy, and fun bracelet to make.

IMG_0199

I did NOT come up with the idea for this bracelet, sadly I cannot remember who did. If you know who did, please let me know I’d love to give credit where credit is due.

IMG_2375

Supplies, these are just what I used, you can use a different clasp. I’ve seen several cute ones made with buttons.

IMG_2379

To get started, cut off at least a foot and a half of fireline. It takes a lot of thread to make this bracelet.

Step 1) If you are using a clasp like mine thread an 8/0 seed bead first, then your flower. Then slide them both down to the end of your piece of fireline.

IMG_2380

Step 2) Tie both strands of fire line together so that the clasp doesn’t fall off.

IMG_2381

Step 3) Now string your 8/0 seed beads until the bracelet can fit around your wrist. You may want to make it a little on the big side so that after you add your loops the bracelet is not to tight. Also make sure you end with an even number of beads. (if you don’t, don’t worry this bracelet is very forgiving)

IMG_2384IMG_2385IMG_2387

Step 4) Take your 11/0 seed beads and create a loop big enough to fit around your clasp.  Take your needle down through the first two 8/0 seed beads.

  IMG_2389

Step 5) Thread 6 11/0 seed beads, 1 8/0 seed beads, and 6 more 11/0 seed beads.

IMG_2391 IMG_2392

Step 6) Take your needle and bring it down through the top of the two 8/0 seed beads you exited in the last step.

IMG_2394

Repeat steps 5 and 6 using the same to 8/0 seed beads 6-8 more times. This is how full mine looks after 6 loops. (You can do as many or as few loops as you’d like. I usually like mine to look pretty full.)

 IMG_2395  IMG_2397

Step 7) After creating as many loops as  you want, move to the next two 8/0 seed beads. Just like before take your needle down through the beads, then repeat step 5 and 6 until you’re happy with the fullness.

Step 8) Repeat steps 5 through 7 until you have used all of the 8/0 seed beads.

Next week I will explain how to finish off the bracelet. Have fun with this bracelet, play around with different number of looks. This bracelet is very forgiving, but is beautiful when finished.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I didn’t make something clear. I will be more than happy to help.

Earring tutorial

I am so excited to share with you my first earring tutorial, I am going to make this a simple tutorial.

Ready? 🙂 It will be easy I promise!

What you’ll need…

IMG_2345

IMG_2347

The pliers I got from Walmart, they are not the best quality but they work just fine for me.  I have gone through several pairs of wire cutters but they aren’t terribly expensive. The beads, head pins, and earring hooks have come from either Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s or Ben Franklins.

Step 1) Take your head pin and one bead and slide it down to the bottom of the head pin. Please make sure your bead is not going to fall off. If it does, you will need to chose a bead with a smaller hole.

IMG_2350

Step 2) Take your flat nosed pliers, and get them close to your bead, then bend the headpin at a 90 degree angle.  IMG_2351

Step 3) Take your wire cutters, and measure out around 1/4 to a 1/2 down from your 90 degree bend, then cut off the excess wire. (don’t worry if you have a little more or a little less, just make sure you leave the same amount on the other earring) IMG_2362

Step 4) Take your round nosed pliers, and start at the end of the wire you just cut and make a loop.  IMG_2354

It should look like this after you are finished.

IMG_2355IMG_2356

Step 5) Pick up your round nosed pliers, and your flat nosed pliers and place then on either side of the loop you just created. Take the pliers that are on the cut side of the loop, and push them away from you, this should have caused the wire loop to open. Do NOT pull the loop opened.

 IMG_2359

Step 6) Slide on your earring hook, and close the loop you created. Make sure there is not a gap, you don’t want your new earrings to fall apart on you. 🙂 Be sure you check the loop on the earring hook as well for gaps, sometimes they are not closed all the way. IMG_2361

Step 7) Repeat steps 1-6 for the other earring.

IMG_2363

Step 8) Enjoy your new earrings! And also if you want to take a pretty picture of them remember to remove the pliers from behind them. Whoops! haha

I hope this helps you to create your own earrings!

I of course did not come up with this idea, this is just my steps that I use when making my earrings.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I’d love to hear from you! Better yet, I’d love to see the earrings you create!

I hope this is just the first of many tutorials that I can share with you. What would you like to see in the future?

I hope everyone was safe from the storms that came through today. My house is still standing, I just can kayak in my neighbors front yard again, to bad its dark out how. haha

Bracelets, bracelets, bracelets

I hope you are having a good week so far! I would be if it weren’t for the cold weather and snow lingering around. On Thursday last week, we got 7-8 inches of snow in 4 hours it was insane. I was not happy, but I was out numbered in my house hold as you can see, my husband and dog loved it.

 IMG_2308 IMG_2303

I am so ready for warm weather so I can work on my jewelry out  on my gazebo. Its the  perfect place to get inspiration when I am stuck. sigh hopefully I can use it soon. But never mind about that, lets get onto the real reason you’re reading this blog. Jewelry! Or more specifically bracelets!

Last week I posted a work in progress, it was a bracelet using tila beads and seed beads. I love it before I finished it, but now that its done I love it even more!

IMG_2319IMG_2321 IMG_2323IMG_2327 IMG_2328

Like I said last week, this was my first time using tila beads, but it will NOT be the last! I love them! If I didn’t already have a million other ideas going on in my head right now, I’d be making another one of these bracelets in a different color.  The good thing about being crafty is that you think of new ideas all then time, the bad thing about being crafty is if you are working on another project and you have an idea it is extremely hard not to stop one project and start another, at least it is for me.

Well I said last week you might get an early post this week, but I didn’t have time to finish it. So I am giving you two posts today! Stay tuned for my next blog update about custom orders! 🙂
